She was a faithful member of Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church and was devoted to her community. Other than her Lord, the primary love in her life was her family. She took every opportunity she could to spend time with them, cook for them, laugh, and sometimes cry with them. She enjoyed quilting and raising her chickens. Many folks in Grant County knew Janis through her work. Among her jobs over the years, she worked for Nooner's Grocery, Mad Butcher, and was currently working at Exxon in Sheridan. If she ever met you, from then on, she would call you by name every time she saw you, and was genuinely interested and concerned for her countless numbers of friends.
Janis died Monday, July 19, 2021, at her home, at the age of 66. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Watson, and her niece, Wendy McKinzie.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Jennifer Watson of Grapevine; daughters, Hope and husband Michael Parsons of Sheridan, and Nancy Watson of Grapevine; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Donald Ellis of Prattsville, and Teresa and Willis Watson of Grapevine; grandchildren, Leah Parsons, Anthony Parsons, Hannah Taylor, Wade Parsons, Jessica Watson, Shealeigh Smith, Lane Harrington; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Jon Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery near Grapevine. Visitation is Wednesday, 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home
