Lloyd Eggleston Neff, 95, died peacefully in her Virginia Beach home July 17, 2021. She was born January 31, 1926 in Norfolk, where she lived with her beloved husband, the late A. Parker Neff, Sr. She was a key supporter of her husband's business, Cooke & Neff, Inc. His Naval service during World War II was a point of pride in her deep sense of patriotism. As native Virginians, she and Parker enjoyed a wide network of friends and delighted in the flora and fauna of Tidewater. Devoted to family, she was the daughter of the late Beverley Purnell Eggleston, Jr. and Mary Louise Freeman Eggleston. She was a person of quiet but fervent faith, and a lifelong member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Norfolk, where she served on the Flower Guild. She was a graduate of Maury High School and studied at St. Mary's College in Raleigh. She was a member of the Garden Club of Norfolk and the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. With great care and horticultural artistry she cultivated a remarkable variety of plants around her North Shore Road home in Norfolk. She loved to share the bounty of her garden with neighbors and friends, and she won numerous awards for flower arranging. She enjoyed the membership of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and the rich traditions of the Norfolk German Club. She was a member of the Junior League and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Her home was the center of her life. Gracious hospitality was always her great joy, and she frequently and generously entertained friends and family at home and at her Virginia Beach cabana. She was a longtime resident of the Westminster Canterbury in Virginia Beach, where during her final months she was blessed by devoted caregivers Cynthia Gayda, Winnie Furca and Pelsina Diaz. Survivors include two daughters, Louise N. Sizemore and husband John of Wellington, Fla. and Latane N. Brown and husband Todd of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, A. Parker Neff, Jr. and wife Amy of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Anne Parker Huret and husband Jon Michael, Gray Lloyd Sizemore, Raymond Todd Brown, Jr., David Quinn Brown and Addison Parker Neff; three great-grandchildren, Lucy Claire Huret, Maggie Brooke Huret and Sophie Joy Huret; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her precious sister, Louise Eggleston Martin. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 23 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 7400 Hampton Blvd. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com
