We who loved her lost a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend and supporter when Sandra Gipson Harrington passed away on November 17, 2018.

Sandra was originally from Albertville, Alabama, where she was born on July 28, 1937 to Herschel and Vera Gipson. She graduated early from high school at 16, attended Huntington College, and advanced to Florida State University, of which she was a proud alumnus. While at FSU, she joined Alpha Xi Delta sorority, studied journalism, and met and married Ross Jamison.

After their marriage, they moved to Tampa, where Sandra began her family. After raising her children, Sandra joined Maas Brothers of Florida, where she presided as advertising copy chief. Sandra met the love of her life, George Harrington, and they married in 1983. After her retirement from advertising, Sandra kept busy writing articles for the Village Views in Carrollwood Village, serving on the board of the cultural center, playing mah jongg with friends, and acting as president of her Sunday school class at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church.

The unique thing about Sandra was that she wanted to know about everyone. Once she knew you, she knew your family and she cared about them. Because she cared about people she was the first person there with a casserole or whatever else they needed.

Sandra was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Gipson. Sandra leaves her much-loved husband, George Harrington, Jr., her brother, John Gipson (Teresa), and her sister-in-law, Janet Gipson Caswell (Jerry). She leaves four children, Cynthia Jackson (Keith), Darby Harvey, Christopher Jamison, Shawn Hunter (Skeet); and two stepdaughters, Marsha King (Bruce), and Kathryn Darrow (Paul). Sandra also leaves grandchildren Baily Skinner, Jamie Skinner-Castillo (Jagren), Bradley Jackson, Brooke Jackson, Carter Novak, Clay Harvey, Michael Harvey, Jr., Warren Craig III, Reeves Craig (Allison), David King (Elise), Emily Echols (Reid); great-grandchildren, Kellie Knott, Hunter Knott, Marley Castillo, Bentley Castillo, and Jace Castillo; and her nephews and nieces, John Gipson, Jr. (Laurie), Peyton Gipson (Jenny), Jennifer Blaskovic (Bob), and Kent Gipson (Caroline). Sandra also loved her "adopted children", Kimberly and John Wells, and her many friends.

Services will be Sunday, November 25, 2018, at 3:00 pm at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher Ave., Tampa, FL 33618, with a reception in the fellowship hall following.

Those desiring to make contributions in Sandra's memory are asked to consider the Salvation Army and Metropolitan Ministries.
