Charles A. Simms, 84 of Hedgesville, W. Va. was a son of the late Charles Raymond and Ada Faith Simms. Charlie was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the paymaster's office. He was a graduate of West Virginia University in business administration with honors, and played trombone in the marching band. He began his career as a certified interal auditor for Potomac Edison, and after working his way though the ranks of a number of organizations, became President of National Ecology, a company devoted to finding sustainable and environmentally beneficial uses for recyclable materials. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free Masons of Maryland and a member of Ali Ghan Shriners for over 50 years. He was a lifelong United Methodist, served on many boards and committees over the years, and sang in the choir. He also served on the board of his homeowners association at The Woods in Hedgesville. A kind and generous friend and neighbor, Charlie was dubbed "The Mayor" of his Arrowhead Ridge neighborhood and will be remembered for his easy smile, dry wit and gregarious good nature.
