Struck by an automobile, a black coach or sedan, which sped on, Mrs. Katherine Schuntermann, 83, of 1112 W. Market, was injured fatally at 5:30 p. m. yesterday as she crossed Market Street in front of her home after having been to a bakery.
At the City Hospital her injuries were listed as crushed pelvis, both legs fractured and shock. She died at 9:15 p. m. Her death was the fiftieth traffic fatality in the city this year against forty the same time last year.
Traffic department investigators asked The Courier-Journal to request witnesses of the accident to inform police headquarters.
Mrs. Schuntermann is survived by a son, Clifford Schuntermann, and five sisters, Miss Victoria Ackerman, with whom she lived; Mrs. Mary Waltz of New Albany; Mrs. Annie Connley, Mrs. Barbara McClish and Mrs. Tillie Orwick."
