Obituary for David J. Flanigan
David John Flanigan, 87, of Carrollton, TX died March 12, 2018. He was born in Buckley IL., one of two sons of Joseph (Leroy) and Emma (Vierkleur) Flanigan. He started his education in a one-room schoolhouse operated by his mother and ultimately pursued accounting, graduating from the University of Illinois.In 1951 he was married to the love of his life, Yvonne Renee Drapeau of Oak Park, Ill who preceded him in death Jan. 24, 2009.Dave was employed by Collins Radio Company who provided communications for the Aviation and American Space Programs. Dave continued his work with Collins as a controller, then Rockwell International until his retirement. Upon retirement, Dave and Yvonne traveled often, and once taught business classes in Vienna Austria.Dave and Yvonne were very active in their Catholic Church, St Paul's Richardson, TX and St. Jude Mabank, TX. After Yvonne passed away, Dave attended Mary Immaculate in Farmers Branch. Dave was an avid sailor, traveler, and consultant was constantly on the move and was a welcome mentor to his children, who were his pride and joy. He was a stealth teacher of love and devotion to family and was our rock. Full of steadfast knowledge, he was a professor of wisdom from a generation that cannot be matched.David and Yvonne leave their 8 wonderful children Mike and wife Penny of Carrollton, Keith and wife Dianna of Arlington, Steve and wife Theresa of Colorado Springs, Co, Bill and wife Kathy (deceased) of Trophy Club, Jeff of Wylie, Dennis and wife Louise of Lewisville, Teresa Valentine and husband Tony of Eustace and Margie Allmon and husband John of Carrollton; all still maintaining the close loving tradition of their parents. Dave also leaves behind his great friend, travel companion, and dance partner Pat Foutch. He is survived by and adored by his 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.Surviving In-laws include Richard & MaryAnn Drapeau and Jean Drapeau. In addition to his wife Yvonne, he was predeceased by his brother James, sister-in-law Darlene, and brothers-in-law Robert and Ronnie.

The family will receive guest on Monday, March 19, 2018, at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.Service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church located at 2800 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX 75234
