Jeri was a Kindergarten teacher, Evaluation Specialist, and the Director of a private school for children with learning disabilities before moving to Mena. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education and Master's Degree in Speech Pathology at Tulsa University. While living in Mena, Jeri was a Resource teacher at Mena Middle School. She earned her Master's Degree in Community Counseling and started the Elementary Counseling program in the Mena School District. She also helped organize the Gifted and Talented Program and taught the first GT class at Holly Harshman Elementary School. Jeri earned an Arkansas Educational Examiner's Certification and School Psychology Specialist Certification and assessed children needing special education services.
After leaving the Mena School District and beginning her private practice, Jeri provided Speech Therapy services at Jumpstart, the Mena School District, and several Geriatric programs. Jeri started the Early Childhood Program at the DeQueen Mena Cooperative and served several counties. When licensed as a Professional Counselor, Jeri provided play therapy for children and mental health counseling for adults in Polk County. She was also the Speech Therapist for the DeQueen Mena Educational Cooperative Early Childhood Program and served children in Polk County. Jeri was a life-long advocate for the emotional, physical and mental well-being of children. Her love was powerful and real. If you called her Mrs. B, you knew that she was in your corner. She still is.
Jeri was surrounded by family in her last hours. Her husband Robert, daughter Meri, grandson Collin, and his wife Brandi miss her terribly.
