He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Russell McLeod and Louise Rampey McLeod; brother, Jerry Russell McLeod, Jr.; son, William Daniel "Danny" McLeod, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Thaxton McLeod; son, Terry McLeod (Jan); daughter-in-law, Denise; and grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, and Kylie.
Dan was born in Rembert, South Carolina and served in the Navy during World War II on the Charles R. Ware DD865. He graduated from Presbyterian College. Dan's job brought him to Pensacola where he met the love of his life at Monsanto. He married Evelyn on November 1, 1952. They enjoyed the love of raising their two sons, baseball, and travel by RV throughout the U.S. and Canada. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball with his good friend, Al Rudge, where they won many championships. He enjoyed sharing a good story, growing African violets, and gardening. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Visitation will be at 10AM with a service starting at 11AM.
The family wishes to especially thank their dear friends Vance Land and Charles and Janis Deal; niece, Denise Harper and her husband Terry; the Visiting Angels staff, Janet, Jana, Michele, Donna, Carol and Denise; and Emerald Coast Hospice for all of their love and support.
