He was very involved at First Evangelical Covenant Church, where he served on the church board, taught Sunday School, and sang in the Swedish men's chorus, "Sångarbröderna."
A larger-than-life personality, Fred was a friend to everyone who met him; he did not know a stranger, and had a story, song, or joke for any occasion. Fred was an amateur pilot, a farmer, a musician, animal-lover, and a fluent Swede. He loved spending time with his family, especially during the summers in Eagle River, WI, where he took everyone out in his boat, the "Lutefisk Hunter II."
He is survived by his wife Connie; sons, Terry (Danielle) Carlson, Timothy (Tammy) Carlson, Daniel (Molly) Carlson; son-in-law, Bobby Woods; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marlen and Mary Rosene; nieces, Maren (Jim) York and Marlene (Nate) Weeks; Swedish exchange son, Niclas Lundquist; and grandchildren, Holly Carlson, Seth Carlson, Dayton Woods (fiancée, Benjamin Johnson), Nels Woods, and Jessica Carlson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and daughter, Valerie Ann Woods.
