Dating back before the Revolution to 1747, ancestor, George Marriner, built and operated for many years the "Marriner's Tavern" in the Freehold, NJ area. Through later years, it was established as, "Our House Tavern". It was a gathering place for a band of outlaws known as the "Fagen Gang." One of the members of the gang, Lewis Fenton was hung on September 23, 1779 in front of the restaurant by members of the Major Lee's Light Dragoons. They were stationed at the County Seat of the Monmouth County Court House, known as Freehold. It was also visited by President George Washington.
Now a landmark in the Freehold area, it is the "Our House Restaurant & Banquet Facility", restored & renovated as a place for township meetings, dances, weddings, and many other events. www.ourhouserestaurant.com
