William Henry Powell Sr. & Anne Blount Lawrence; and a direct descendant of George Powell & Ann Connor of Norfolk, VA who settled in Bertie County in the early 1700's. She was the maternal grandchild of wealthy Joseph John Porter & (2nd) wife Cynthia Patience Jeffreys.
Cynthia Ann died in 1899. She was only 19 months old.
