Jeff Mitchell
December 10, 1972 - June 29, 2017
POCATELLO - Jeff Mitchell, age 44 passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning on June 29, 2017 at his home.

Jeff was born December 10, 1972 to Clarence "Poog" and Donna Mitchell in Pocatello, Idaho. He was a student at Irving Jr. High School and then graduated with honors from Pocatello High School in 1991. He also attended Boise State and Idaho State Universities. Jeff was employed for most of his career as an office manager in various places, but mainly in the health care field.

Jeff met the love of his life, Rick in the early 1990's where they became friends and stayed in touch even after Jeff moved to Boise. After Jeff returned to Pocatello he and Rick became closer friends. On September 8, 1998, Jeff asked Rick to be his partner for life and Rick accepted. They spent 19 wonderful years together and got married on September 24, 2013. They loved the outdoors and took many camping trips. They also like traveling to the coast where they did a lot of beach combing, lighthouse tours and sightseeing. Another thing they shared was the love of animals and had numerous pets. Tazz misses you Jeff; he keeps looking out the window wondering where you're at.

Jeff is survived by his husband, Rick Grunig; his mother, Donna Mitchell; his "other mother", Charlotte Grunig; his brother, Dave (Sandy) Mitchell; his nieces, Any (Andy) Hale; Brittney (Ryan) Peterson; and Carly Mitchell, all from Pocatello.

Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, and his sister, Lorilee Chandler.

Jeff was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and pet owner. He had an amazing sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho. A viewing will be held for family and friends one hour prior to the service (casual attire please). Jeff will be cremated, so there will be no graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pocatello Animal Shelter in Jeff's name.
