Janet J. Phillips, 90, of Sanford, passed away on July 6, 2021, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with her family by her side.

Janet was born in Hartford, Connecticut on January 7, 1931, the daughter of Frederick and Ruth (Messenger) Joseph.

Janet was highly active in her church and graciously made the church's weekly bulletins; throughout her life Janet was in many women's groups and made many lifelong friendships through out the years.

In her free-time, Janet enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, cooking, and sharing the recliner with her loyal pot belly Chihuahua companion Massie.

An avid quilter Janet's family selected the following poem:

Guide my hands to work as Your hands work, to know the power of Your love in every stitch I make, in every thread I knot. May my hands be guided by the same love and care with every quilt I make, knowing that this love and care was and is and will continue to be a gift of blessing to the one it is intended for.

Author Unknown

Janet is lovingly survived by one daughter; Judith Wigmore of Sanford; granddaughter Jennifer Potter of Shapleigh; great granddaughters Emma Potter of Shapleigh and Trinity Daige of Kennebunk.

She is predeceased by her mother and father; grandson Stephen Daige and son in law Charles Wigmore.

A celebration of life will be held on July 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 623 Old Main Street, Rock Hill, CT.

A graveside service will be held July 18, 2021, at the Evergreen Cemetery on Rt. 4 in Alfred at 1:00 p.m.
