Kevin Matthew Hall, 51, of Houston, Texas, died May 10, 2021, in Houston. He was born April 14, 1970, in Greenfield, Mass., the fourth of seven children of Warren Hall and Judy Thompson Hall Thorpe.

In June 1975, they were a family with five children living in Eagle Lake, Florida, and they traveled to North Vernon, Indiana, the home town of the parents, for a visit. On the return trip to Florida, three of the children were killed when their vehicle was hit by a drunk driver near Lexington, Kentucky. Losing their lives were, Scott Keith, 14; Andrew David, 8; and Allison Louise, 3. Another daughter, Michelle, 12, was seriously injured. Kevin, who was five at the time, was not injured. The family later welcomed two baby girls, Molly and Emily.

Kevin graduated in 1988 from Shattuck- St. Mary's School in Faribault, Minn., before heading to Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., where he obtained a BA in history. Ever the entrepreneur, he earned spending money by renting his cat out to help with mouse problems in his dorm, and by buying gallons of ice cream and selling dishes to hungry students.

After graduating college, he moved to Houston, where he attended Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law, graduating first in his class in 2003. A federal judge for whom Kevin had been a clerk said of him, "Not only did Kevin possess a great legal mind, but he was a team player, respectful and considerate of others, always displaying a generous spirit toward his fellowman."

Kevin started a practice in Houston, first specializing in criminal law before switching to personal injury cases. Those he worked with remembered his big heart and desire to help others. Countless TSU law students studying for the bar exam were mentored by him.

A longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Houston, where he worshipped and attended Bible classes, he and his wife proclaimed their faith by being baptized together. He was a father, husband, son, brother, friend and colleague, and shared a deep unconditional love with his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Truong Hall; sons Gavin, 13, and Aaron, 2; daughter, Katelyn, 4; mother and stepfather, Judy and Doug Thorpe; father, Warren Hall; and sisters, Michelle Bjork, Molly Hall and Emily Lockridge. In addition to his siblings, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vivian and Albert Thompson, and Dorothy and Paul Hall.

A private service was held, and Kevin was laid to rest beside Scott, Andrew and Allison at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
