She was born December 23, 1928 in Sharon Springs, Kansas to Nathan and Myrtle (Foster) Aumiller, joining their family of nine children.
She attended school in Burlington, Colorado until her family moved to Seibert, Colorado in 1942. There she graduated high school in 1947 and met Robert (Bob) L. Austin. The two were married on February 15, 1948 in Stratton, Colorado.
In 1952, the couple moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado where Bob worked in the lumber business and they lived there for nine years, starting a family with son, Daniel. In 1968 they moved to Paxton, Nebraska where they both worked for Kildare Lumber and welcomed daughter, Pamela. The family moved to Ogallala where Bob managed the yard and Joyce worked as the bookkeeper until they retired in 1989. Joyce was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
She is survived by daughter, Pam (Clark); Diedrich of Brule; son, Nathan Aumiller of Laramie Wyoming, granddaughters Lea (Kucks) of Omaha, Misty (Steve) Cummings of Fort Collins, and Summer Diedrich of Ogallala; one grandson Brian (Michelle) Austin of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and five great grandchildren. Her sister Myrtle Murphy of Goodland, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, son Daniel in 2018, parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Rosary will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM with funeral services following at 10:30 AM at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Bryan Ernest of St. Luke's Catholic Church officiating.
Interment will take place in the Ogallala Cemetery.
