Rev. Antonio C. Mendoza went to be with the Lord November 14, 2007. He was born September 16, 1924 in Tecolote, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife Maria Luisa, his loving family and church brethren. He was a graduate of the University of Las Vegas in New Mexico and later pursued an MDM at Southwest Seminary. He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army, being a WWII Vetran.He was awarded the Medal of Merit and given awards by President Johnson for his service. After retiring, he went into Civil Service working as an E.E.O. GS-11 employee. During that time he felt the call to enter full time ministry. During his life of service to our Lord, he founded many ministries which later became churches in New Mexico, Cd. Juarez and throughout Texas. Working as a chaplain in La Tuna Penitentiary, Rescue Mission and "El Tribunal para menores" in Juarez. In 1976 he founded "Distribuidora Nueva Vida", a wholesale distribution of Spanish evangelical literature. In recent years he served as Senior Pastor at Grandview Baptist Church which he continued to serve right up until his demise. His life impacted so many people and his legacy will continue because of the lives he touched. Visitaiton will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Grandview Baptist Church, 3331 Idalia with a Worship Service at 7:00 p.m., Dr. James Benson officiating. Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2007 at Grandview Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with U.S. Army Garrison Chaplain officiating. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home, 3839 Montana, Ave., El Paso, Texas 79903. (915) 566-3955.
