Lorene ‘Billie' Thrailkill Gilbert 93, died May 11, 2007, in Cañon City. She was born to Joseph and Flora (Mills) Walker Nov. 29, 1913 [*], in Bowie [Montague County], Texas. She moved to Colorado in 1932 with her parents and brother Truman. She married James Thrailkill Jan. 21, 1933, in Santa Fe, N.M. She married Frank Gilbert Dec. 18, 1971, in Colorado Springs and lived there until 1973 when she and her husband moved to Cañon City.
She is survived by seven children, Barbara (Ron) Bettger, Charles (Donna Burns), James, Robert, William (Jean), Gladys (Vaughn) Dunbar, and Kenneth (Sue); sister-in-law, Laura Walker; granddaughter-in-law, Karen Mora; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Isaac and William, both infants, and Truman Walker; sister, Alice; grandson, Daniel Mora; and great-great grandson, Colby Jacob Provinsal.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Holt Chapel of the Garden in Cañon City, followed by a graveside gathering in Evergreen Cemetery (Gilbert-Galley Plot) in Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, P.O. Box 1796, Cañon City, CO 81212.
