Mrs. Mary Hunnicutt Ray, 89, of Canon, GA passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the Brown Health and Rehabilitation Center in Royston, GA.
Mrs. Ray was born in Hartwell, GA on May 2, 1932, daughter of the late Tommy Hunnicutt and the late Etta Childs Hunnicutt. She was a seamstress having worked for Oxford Manufacturing and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Canon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Alton Kenneth Ray; daughter, Susan Detter; and all of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Gary Higgins of Carnesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Shirley Ray of Toccoa, GA, Tim and Lawanna Ray of Danielsville, GA and J.R. and Donna Masonet of Commerce, GA; son-in-law, Tracy Detter of Hartwell, GA; grandchildren, Angie Hart, Bryan Higgins, Jeremy Ray, Kevin Ray, Brandon Ray, John Thomas Ray, Jason Detter, Dana Standridge and Jeffery Davis; and great-grandchildren, Garrett Hart, Alex Higgins, Erin Hart, Kelly Weeks, Brandon Jeremy Ray, Chance Thornton, Patrick Thornton, Jarrad McCraw, Jenson McCraw, Warren Lee Davis, Nevaeh Davis, Kailyn Ray, Bryson Ray, Kinzee Ray, Addison Ray, Trinity Brouwer, Dathon Ray and Brinlee Ray.
A graveside service for Mrs. Ray will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021, in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Tommy Childress officiating.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The family is at their respective homes.
