James Patrick Hurley, age 70, passed away on July 11, 2021 due to complications from colon cancer.

Jim was the beloved husband of Mary (née Stupnik) Hurley and devoted father of Katherine Hurley (Mark Biro) and Alexander Hurley. He is also survived by his siblings Michelle Walker, Dennis, Peter (Lorraine), and Matthew (Jennifer), as well as ten nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James E. and Alice (Sears) Hurley, and by his stepmother, Elaine Hurley. Jim is also survived by his canine companion Rascal Pele.

After graduation from Needham High School, Jim served in the US Air Force and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and sculpture from Boston University. Post-graduate course work in electrical engineering at Northeastern University led to a rewarding career in the high tech industry. Jim was a devoted father, spending countless hours on the sidelines of his son's soccer games and tournaments, and always attending his daughter's numerous ballet and theater performances. He maintained a lifelong interest in both art and music, visiting art museums wherever he traveled and enjoying Cleveland Orchestra concerts.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jim to the St. Vitus Church Building Fund (at the address below) or to the Boston University College of Fine Arts scholarship fund (855 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, MA 02215).

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at St. Vitus Catholic Church 6019 Lausche Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44103 at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) MONDAY 4-8 PM.

Masks and social distancing are kindly requested at the Mass and visitation.
