Funeral services for Lera Anna Swain, 81, will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. AT Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Brother Jerrell Head, pastor of Landmark Baptist Church.

Lera was born on March 9, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to William Rossa Burson and Elsie Beatrice Smith Burson and passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Carpenter House in Shreveport after a lengthy illness.

Lera was a member of Calvary Baptist Church most of her life until she got sick. She graduated from Byrd High School and was a private sitter and nurse aide for many years. Lera was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a classy lady in all her ways. She loved God. She taught by example. She lived a full life and even when she got sick, she still was a strong wonderful lady. Lera had a beautiful smile and was a joy to be around. Lera loved dressing up especially with all her jewelry, make-up and lipstick. Her favorite color was turquoise. She loved flowers, especially yellow roses. She taught her children and grandchildren very well. We will all miss her. She will always be in our hearts and memories. God gained an angel in heaven for sure.

Lera is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Lavern "Butch" Burson; and brother, Charles Burson. Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Cynthia Diane Lambert Jordan, Kevin Swain and wife, Tammy Swain, Pam Swain Russell and husband, Tommy Russell and Chris Swain and wife, Laurie Swain; grandchildren, Brittany Jordan, Joshua Jordan, Danielle Russell Barnes and husband, Chris Barnes, TC Russell and wife, Tamera Russell, Nicholas Russell, Amber Hesser and husband, Adam Hesser, Alan Lord and wife, Beth Lord, and Madalyn Swain; great-grandchildren, Caden Hughes, Hayley Barnes, Aden Hesser, Audrey Hesser and Alice Lord; brothers, Kenneth Burson and wife, Cherry Burson and Jerry Burson and wife, Judy Burson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she dearly loved.
Honoring Lera as pallbearers will be TC Russell, Joshua Jordan, Troy Burson, Andy Burson, Matt Burson, Jason Beltcher and Nathan Thorla.
