Daughter of James Edward and Vera Laurell (Wheeler) Hawkins. She lived her entire life in the Rittman-Akron area. A 1982 graduate of Rittman High School, she later earned an Associate Degree in a Medical Assistant Program. As a single mother she often worked two jobs as she raised two sons who are now fine men. Even after being confined to a wheelchair, she enjoyed traveling to visit family, singing in choirs and solo, playing cards and games with her friends, and writing poetry.

Funeral service will be Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 6 p.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, OH. Burial will take place at Etowah City Cemetery in Etowah, TN.
