Michael Edward Melton, age 80, of Orem, Utah, passed away on December 26, 2020. He was born June 10, 1940, in Bell, California, to Verna Lucille Josephine Aamodt and Hubert Edward Melton. He married Lana Lee Bigler on February 20,1964, in the Los Angeles temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mickey, as he was known, worked for the United States Postal Service in both California and Utah, retiring from the postal service and settling permanently in Utah in 1995. In his younger years, he worked at Disneyland, and post-retirement he worked for Burrell's Press Clippings and the Alpine School District.

Mickey had many interests and enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, gardening, camping, athletics, and travel, especially trips to Disneyland, Disney World, and Disney Cruises with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in callings in the bishopric, High Priests Group, Elder's Quorum, and Young Men's organization, and he was a faithful home teacher. He served 3 missions: as a stake missionary in Chico CA, as a missionary at the Missionary Training Center in Provo UT, and as a missionary with his wife Lana at the LDS Employment Center in Provo UT.

Mickey was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, who is survived by his wife Lana of Orem UT; sisters, Barbara Phay of San Bernardino CA, and Penny Pederson of Redlands CA; children, Torrie, Todd, Cari, Aaron, Wendy, Nathan, Joshua, and Susan; 30 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Jerry [Hubert Vernal], son John, and granddaughter Ashley.

Funeral services are being conducted by the Sundberg-Olpin & Wheeler Mortuary in Orem UT on Friday January 8, 2021, at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
