Ennis E. Boggs
VIRDEN - Ennis E. Boggs, 82, died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center after a difficult battle with Parkinson's disease.
Mr. Boggs was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Pleasant Plains, the son of Art and Ethel (Wyrick) Boggs. He married Rebecca M. Haines on Aug. 1, 1952; she survives.
Ennis was a member of Macoupin County Farm Bureau and farmed in the area for more than 40 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Melvin E. Boggs of Virden and Richard L. (wife, Teri) Boggs of Divernon; daughters, Gloria M. (husband, Ray) Wilkins of Dayton, Texas, Della S. (husband, Matt) Sharp of Springfield, Linda L. (husband, Lester) Snow and Carol L. (husband, Steve) Hutchison, both of Virden; sister, Ethel M. "Sis" Bowen of Waverly; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ennis E. "Gene" Boggs Jr.; brothers, Lester, Arthur and Harland Boggs; and sister, Alberta Sagle.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Virden. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at the funeral home, with the Rev.
