Carole Aarlie Peterson, 88, a longtime resident of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully at home with her children on July 3, 2021.

Carole was born in Viola, Idaho, and grew up in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, graduating for Coeur d'Alene High school in 1950.

She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Peterson in 1951. Richard and Carole moved to Lower Burrell in 1965, with their four children, along with their pet dogs, cats, and mice. The family enjoyed camping trips, motorcycling, and cross-country vacations in their pick-up truck camper to visit family, historic sites, and national parks. Carole had boundless love for all animals and devoted unending energy to rescuing and finding loving homes for abandoned and needy creatures of all kinds.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin C. and Cleo (Botts) Aarlie.

She is survived by her children, Michael K. Peterson, Heidi A. Peterson, Krista K. Peterson, and Randall T. Peterson; grandchildren, Daniel Janoski, Dylan Bodick, Ryan Bodick, Rebecca Peterson, and Thomas Peterson; and great-granddaughter, Riley Janoski. She is also survived by her second family, the Shurinas.
