Dean grew up in and around the Sayre area. She briefly moved with family to Vaughn, New Mexico. She was married to John A. Rogers on February 20, 1960 in Sayre, Oklahoma. After their marriage they moved Burlington, Iowa where she worked in Sylvania Electronics Plant. They returned to Delhi, Oklahoma in 1968 and later to Sayre in 1975. Dean would often be seen waitressing at Tillie's Cafe, Gene's Cafe and also Franks Cafe. After waitressing, she operated the Sinclair and DX filling stations. Dean later began ironing and cleaning houses for many of the people in and around Sayre area. She had a love for caring for the elderly and spent 20 years of her life devoting time and energy to them. Dean remained in Sayre until 2019. She went to visit her son in Lubbock, Texas for the holidays and due to health issues remained in Lubbock for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, shelling peas, reading western novels and making banana nut bread. Dean was a long time member of the Sayre Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, 4 sisters, 2 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
Dean is survived by her son Ronnie Sowell and wife, Sherlie, Lubbock, TX; 2 grandchildren, Staci Leann Herrley and husband, Kyle, Snyder, TX and Shane Sowell and wife, Irma, Temple, TX; 5 great grandchildren, Michaela Sowell, Ronnie Sowell, Samantha Pacheco, Amanda Pacheco, Mercedes Pacheco; great great grandchildren, Leah and Mia Pacheco numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM the Sayre Church of Christ officiated by Billy Clabaugh. Burial will follow at the Carter Cemetery under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West.
