Stephen was born February 2, 1931 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Stephen Alexander Edmondson, Sr. and Ethel Milner Edmondson. He enjoyed a happy and adventurous childhood in Columbia, Alabama, then bravely served his country in the United States Army, engaging in active battle during the Korean War.
