Karen Ann Llewellyn Jenkins, 69, joyfully passed away July 7th, 2021, at home surrounded by family. She was born June 30, 1952, in Enid, Oklahoma to Georgia Elizabeth Ethington and George Dewey Llewellyn. As a teenager she welcomed a new father into her life, Herbert (Poppa) Holtzer, whom she loved very much.
She married Val Darley Klingler September 9, 1972. Together they raised 4 daughters and 2 sons. Later she married the love of her life, Mark Edward Jenkins on March 18, 1995. She happily welcomed 4 additional children into her life, 2 daughter and 2 sons.
Besides her own children, she taught and loved many students as a schoolteacher. Her passion for teaching math and science was evident to more than just her students. In 1993 she traveled to Washington D.C. where she was presented with The Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching by the President of the United States.
She will be missed by her loving husband, Mark Jenkins, and her children: Denise Holtzer Messina (Scott), Nancy Klingler Morrison (Kenneth), Pamela Klingler Rolfe (Joshua), Sandra Klingler Flowers (Douglas), Matthew Klingler (Genie), Jeffrey Klingler (Arielle), Jacob Jenkins, Michelle Jenkins Huseby (Eric), Alexandra Jenkins Farrell, David Jenkins (Jennifer), and 26 grandchildren.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 4-8 pm at Hillcrest Funerals and Cremation, 9353 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick, WA. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 9:30-10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 820 S. Buntin St., Kennewick, WA. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland, WA.
