Sandra had been employed at RPI in food service for 5 years, retiring 8 years ago. Prior to that she was in food service at the US Arsenal in Watervliet.
Sandra's greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She is survived by her loving husband Mark A. Sawyer, Sr. of Troy and her son Eric J. Sawyer of Cohoes. Another son Mark A. Sawyer, Jr. predeceased her. She is the sister of Shirley Martel of Cohoes, Donna Bazzar and Esther Savoie of Waterford, Larry Ballard of Cohoes and Warren Meder of Waterford.
She is the grandmother of Matthew Sawyer of Queensbury, Lilly, Ivy, Alexander and Scarlett Sawyer of all of Troy and Cale Sawyer of Cohoes.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will follow in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
