VICTOR SMITH
Victor Prowell Smith, Sr., beloved of all who knew him, died on June 27, 2021, in Madison, MS. He was born in Birmingham, AL. on May 11, 1930, to Frank Mayronne Smith and Maybelle Prowell Smith. He was an only child but had many close cousins in Alabama.

Victor grew up in Jackson and Hazlehurst and attended McCallie school in Chattanooga. He attended Ole Miss where he met his wife, Mildred Primos Smith. They were married for almost 68 years before her death in 2019. Except for a brief time when he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, Victor and Mildred made their home in Jackson. He had a successful business career in the oil and gas and real estate industries and served on many civic and philanthropic boards. He founded two international charitable organizations, Salt and Light in Honduras and Clean Water for Malawi in Africa. However, His greatest legacy was his faith and love in our Lord Jesus Christ, a faith he shared boldly with everyone he met. In an interview in 2014, Victor was quoted as saying, "I guess the main burden on my heart is to teach people about Jesus, and not the Christian religion. We don't need to be religious people. We just need to be followers of Jesus."

Victor is survived by his children Angie Smith, Sheila Willson (Keith) of Tulsa, OK, Linda Mallory (Neely) of Memphis, TN, and Victor Jr. (Ginger) of Memphis, TN, as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred.

The family would like to thank the staff on the first floor of Siena at St. Catherine's Village for their loving care during the last eighteen months of Victor's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Victor P. Smith Cornerstone Society Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area, 615 Stonewall St, Jackson, MS 39213; habitatmca.org or to Mississippi Fellowship of Christian Athletes, P.O. Box 449, Ridgeland, MS. 39158, or to Northminster Baptist Church, 3955 Ridgewood Rd., Jackson, MS. 39211. wrightferguson.com
