Mary Martha (Rhude) Brock, 99, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021, in Nineveh. She was a resident of Brown County for many years.

She was born on April 1, 1922, in Brown County, Indiana to Jacob D. Rhude, Jr. and Cassie Mable (Trisler) Rhude. Mary married Loyd Clifford Brock on July 3, 1941. He preceded her in passing in 1956. She is survived by children, Martha Napier of Edinburgh; Garland (Zuba) Brock of Peoga; Wanda (Tracy) Riddle of Brown County; Marvin (Barbara) Brock of Trafalgar and Bruce (Robin) Brock of Brown County; son-in-law, Harold Clark of Edinburgh; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Loyd; son, James Brock, and daughter, Deborah Clark, and siblings, Grover Zimmerman, Gerald Rhude, Doris Rhude Wilson, Wilma Rhude Witham, and Norma Rude Stickford-Wilson.

Mary attended the one-room elementary schools (Wray and Walker) in Hamblen Township, near Peoga, first walking then later riding in the first horse-drawn school hack in the area, owned and driven by her father. She attended Trafalgar High School and Redland High School in Dade Co., Florida.

Mary owned and operated Brock's Grocery at the west end of Peoga for many years. She also was employed and was a manager and chef at the Franklin Grandma's Cafe; a cook at Spurnica Elementary; worked at the Canning Factory in Trafalgar and was a Bus Driver for Brown County Schools.

Mary was an active member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She was a member of the War Mothers and was a 4- H leader. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. Mary loved visiting with people at the store for many years.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 17 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends may visit on Friday, July 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
