Memorial service for Mary Ellen McMahon, 72, of Belle Plaine will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.

She passed away July 8, 2021, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Mary Ellen McMahon was born in Redwood Falls on Aug. 23, 1948, to John and Alice (Worden) McMahon. She grew up in the Marshall area and graduated from Holy Redeemer Catholic School. She lived in Santa Barbara, CA. for a handful of years in the early 1970s when the company she worked for, Jostens, transferred her out there. She then moved back to Marshall in the mid 1970s and worked for the State of MN at Southwest College. In 1981, her and her daughter, Melissa, moved to Shakopee when she got a job doing data entry for Control Data in Bloomington. She then continued to live in various areas of the SW Twin Cities. She went back to work for the State of MN in the late 1980s where she worked for the Department of Corrections for several years and then finally in the early 1990s transferred to Hennepin Technical College where she work until she retired in 2017. She enjoyed reading, Sudoku, HGTV and spending time with her great nieces Brooke and Jenna.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa (Scott) Gillespie of Belle Plaine, sister, Liz (Jules) Naber of Belle Plaine, brother Tim McMahon of Belle Plaine, sister-in-law Karen McMahon of Marshall, nephew Michael Naber of Marshall, niece Tanya (Rick) Adamietz of Belle Plaine, great nieces Brooke Adamietz and Jenna Adamietz of Belle Plaine, nephew Brent (Hope) McMahon of Minneota.

Preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Alice McMahon, her brother Curt McMahon, nephew Todd Naber, nephew Eric Naber, and aunts and uncles.
