Thomas Alan "Tom" Dawson, 69, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at his home. He was born February 11, 1952 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of the late Warren and Wilma Rose Dawson.
Tom retired after 20 years from the United States Navy in 1996. He then worked for several years at Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center as an engineering technician. Tom enjoyed travelling, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rita Ann Dawson; his two sons, Heath Aaron Dawson of Byesville, Ohio and Matthew Tyler Dawson of Bloomington, Indiana; and a daughter, Jessica Rae Sharrar and her husband Nathan of Lemoore, California; a grandson, Benjamin Sharrar of Lemoore, California; two sisters, Cathy Adkins and her husband Charles of Plain City, Ohio and Jill Norris and her husband Nelson of Marengo, Ohio; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third Street. Interment with Navy military honors will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held prior to the service on Thursday from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
