She had been employed with the South Pemiscot School District and also owned Mary's Cafe in Braggadocio.
In her 82 years, she was many things to many people. Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, companion, sister, aunt, bus driver, school custodian, cafe owner, and friend. So many people have so many stories and those stories will keep her memory alive.
She was united in marriage to Oril Decker, who preceded her in death.
In death, she is also preceded by her mother and father, Myrtle and Joe Webb and daughter, Ellen Gestring.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Pat Miller of Braggadocio, granddaughters, Marie Sloan and Crystal Stockton, grandson Eric Gestring and her four great grandchildren, Destin, Lexiss, Abby and Anna Claire and one sister, Lavada Atkins of Steele and one brother, Thomas Webb of Mt. Washington, KY.
Mary Ellen was a good woman, but more than anything she was a woman of God. That's what she would want to be remembered for the most.
Visitation was held Monday, July 5, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., with services July 6 at 3 p.m. at Powell Funeral Honme in Steele, Rev. Gary Andrews officiated. Burial was in MT. Zion Cemetery in Steele. Pallbearers were Gary Andrews, John Roland Hensley, Tracy Rogers, Destin Smith, David Webb, Chandler Cardwell and Lucas Gardner.
