Last rites for Dan C. Rogers, 83, Covington County planter, who died at his home 3 miles north of Collins early Monday morning were held from the Salem Baptist Church followed by interment in the Salem Cemetery.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. L. Day, pastor of Collins Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Swope Noblin of local Methodist Church and Rev. W. E. Holcomb of Mt. Olive. Mr. Rogers would have been 84 on April 26th.
A native of Covington County, Mr. Rogers had been one of its leading citizens, having been instrumental in founding the 1st high school in the county. A life long member of Salem Baptist Church, he had been actively identified with the religious and social life of his community. He belonged to a large and influential family, well known in South Mississippi.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were 3 of his longtime friends, Fred Spell, Calvin Dees and Dock Rogers.
He was survived by 4 sons, the Rev. Reese Rogers, pastor of Salem Baptist Church, Garvin Rogers of Collins, Leon T. Rogers of Jackson and J. Van Rogers of Chattanooga, TN, 3 daughters, M. L. Hamilton of Collins, Mrs. W. G. Gray of
Columbia, Mrs. Ed Brown of Carthage, MO, one brother, Norvell M. Rogers, Mt. Olive; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends of Mrs. W. G. Gray will be sorry to learn of the death of her father, Dan C. Rogers, at his home at Collins, Mississippi, Monday morning April 11th. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Salem Church near Collins. Mr. Rogers was 84 years of age and was a prominent planter in the Collins vicinity.
