Robert (Bob) Glynn Luther, 74, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.

Bob will be buried in North Fork Cemetery with a private service.

Bob was born April 6, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Earl Samuel Luther and Helen Duncan Luther.

After attending Lisle High School, he served in the Army National Guard. Bob married Karen (Knecht) Luther on August 16, 1969 in Naperville, Illinois.

In 1972, Bob began his career working for the McDonald's Corporation in Oak Brook, Illinois. In 1979 the company moved him to Decatur, Illinois where he supervised the Decatur area restaurants and held various other roles. In 1990 Bob and Karen became Owner / Operators of their own McDonald's franchises in Clinton and Monticello, Illinois until retirement in 2001.

Bob was passionate about his involvement in the Decatur Community. His time was spent volunteering for the CASA program, Decatur Chamber of Commerce, Scovill Mobile Zoo, as an instructor for the Millikin SCORE program, Project Success, and providing consulting services to countless start-up businesses. In his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and White Sox, playing guitar, gardening, fishing and collecting fishing memorabilia.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Karen; 3 sons, Rob (Rhonda) of Decatur, Illinois, Bryan (Jayme) of Franklin, Tennessee and Michael (Heather) of Parker, Colorado; 7 grandchildren, Alexandria Falk of Dallas, Texas and Noah Luther of Decatur, Illinois, Colton, Ashton and Preston Luther of Parker, Colorado and Matt and Sydney Fornero of Franklin, Tennessee and 2 brothers, Bill Luther and wife Pat of Lisle, Illinois and Tom Luther and wife Jackie of Medinah, Illinois.

Bob will be remembered for being a devoted and loving husband, dad and papa. Bob never met a stranger and was a friend to many. He will be truly missed.
