Brenda Kay Shultz-Moody was born on May 3, 1955 to Lowreance Shultz and Susie Mae Shultz in Dallas, TX. She was the baby of eight siblings.
Sister Moody attended Dallas Independent School district where she excelled in academics and extracurricular activities. She graduated from L.G. Pinkston High School in 1973. She attended El Centro College where she obtained her Associates degree in Business Administration and later attended University of Texas at Arlington.
Sister Moody worked in Administration at Parkland hospital and City of Dallas for years. She met and later married Mr. Ben Moody on April 9, 1983. With this union, one son, and two daughters were born.
Sister Moody gave her life to Christ in 1961 where she attended West Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of the late Rev. Malbray Mitchem. Sister Moody was an active member of her church where she served in the Starlight Band, Girls Auxiliary and the Church Choir.
Sister Moody was also actively involved in her Children's education. She served as the president of the Parent Teacher Association at Amelia Earhart Elementary School, she was the Treasury of the Parent Teacher Association at Thomas A Edison Middle School and she was the President of the Band's Parent Booster Club for L.G. Pinkston High School Mighty Viking Marching Band. In addition Sister Moody was actively involved in the improvement of her community West Dallas, where she worked closely with Dr. Pat Stephens director of Westmoreland Heights Community Center.
Sister Moody did not meet any strangers, she demonstrated her faith beyond the walls of the church by showing her dedication and compassion to others in the community. Sister Moody is the epitome of a virtuous woman, she exudes grace, class, integrity, and always had a positive attitude. She loved to sing and give praise to god until he called her home.
Sister Moody was preceded in death by parents: Lowreance Shultz and Susie Mae Shultz, three siblings: Willie Roy, Betty Jean, and Eddie Lowreance.
Sister Moody leaves to cherish her legacy of 65 years: one son: Lowreance D. Moody (Cristy), two daughters: Kimberly R. Moody, and Ashley N. Moody. five grandchildren: Devin, Destiny, Makayla, Lakayla, Shanya, two step grandchildren: Zamaryia, Zechariah and one sister: Linda Shultz Boyce, three brothers Charles E. Shultz Sr. (Esther), Robert N. Turner I (Renee), Herman L. Turner, Two aunts: Mrs. Bessie B. Barree and Mrs. Ophia L. Barree; a host of relatives, friends and the West Mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church family.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the location of the Homecoming Services are changed to Bethesda Memorial Funeral Directors Chapel (106 Terrace Drive - DeSoto, TX 75115), Service will start at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 19, 2021. Rev. Lowreance Moody, Eulogist. For visitation purposes, Sister Moody will lie in repose in the chapel-one hour prior to her services. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery - Dallas, Texas, will follow the service.
