Lillian, the daughter, of Ottie and Naomi Griffin Matthews was born near Morrisville, Missouri and graduated from Marion C. Early High School in 1938. She was a longtime resident of the Walnut Grove area. She was a homemaker and with her late husband Earl, owned and operated McGill Grocery in Walnut Grove for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Walnut Grove 1st Baptist Church and was active with the Ladies Breakfast Club.
Lillian Matthews and Earl McGill were united in marriage on October 5, 1945. To this union two children were born. Together they were privileged to share 50 years.
Earl, preceded her in death on February 29, 1996. Also preceding her were her parents and two sisters: Maxine Frye Baldwin and Audrey Dixon, and two infant brothers.
She is survived by her son, Ronald and wife Joyce McGill, and daughter Janet and husband Randy Zweerink; three grandchildren: Ryan Zweerink, Rene Flatness and Gena McGill; four great grandchildren and niece, Karen Dixon.
Interment Saturday, May 19, 2012, in Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove, MO.
