Gene Estle Moore, 77, passed away June 28, 2021 at Community Hospital East. He was born July 28, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to James E. and Hattie E. (Basey) Moore.

Gene graduated from New Palestine High School in 1961. He then entered the United States Air Force in November of 1962. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Greenfield and Knights of Columbus, Indianapolis chapter. Gene was a character, a jokester, a cowboy and most importantly a family man. He was a stickler for the number 44 and you could catch him shouting it out when the clock struck 44. He enjoyed cutting his yard with his John Deere tractor, bowling, watching golf, and Colts football games. Gene liked watching western movies; like Gun Smoke and Bonanza. He savored the taste of Margaret's hamburger gravy and homemade chocolate angel food cake, as well as Wal-Mart's chocolate chip cookies. Some of his other favorites were; sausage egg and cheese croissants and peanut M&M's. Gene adored his family and his time with them.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret (Lyons) Moore; two daughters, Kim Coar (Joel Wachowski) and Barb Browning (Michael); twin sons, Brent Gould (Dianna) and Steven Gould (Tracy); 10 grandchildren, Dustin, Megan, Tyler, Grayson, Matt, Jess, Guy, Natasha, Hayden and Anthony; seven great-grandchildren, Zech, Haddie, Emmy, Jack, Griffin, Millie and Xavier. Gene was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service for Gene will be held at 6:00 p.m. July 5, 2021 at Hendryx Mortuaries-New Palestine Chapel, where friends may call starting at 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. The burial will be at New Palestine Cemetery July 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
