Eileen Lavonne Nolan Miller passed away peacefully and with a smile on her face, June 24, 2021 in her home that she had lived in for 70 years, Eileen was surrounded by her family. Mother was two weeks shy of 96 years young. Eileen came to Oceanside in 1940 with her Mother and sister on the Rock Island Railroad before World War II, when Oceanside was a sleepy Southern California town. She went to Oceanside-Carlsbad High School for two years. One day while on a leisurely stroll on the Oceanside Pier, she met Claude Miller, the love of her life. They married and started a family. Mother used to say "When we got married, we didn't have two nickels to rub together." To make ends meet, she took in ironing and was a ticket taker at the Palomar Theater (Oceanside Library now) also a ticket taker at the Silver Slipper Dance Hall on the top floor
of Huckabay's Department store on the corner of Mission road and Hill street (now Coast Highway), Oceanside. She worked on Camp Pendleton Base (civil service) and 25 years Vons grocery (retailed clerk) "Buy Bonds"!!!!Eileen and Claude traveled the world, and when they got older they traveled America in their motorhome. Mother didn't miss a beat, she did everything she ever wanted to do.Mother belonged to several clubs including The Emblem Club (President), Red Hatters, Civitan (Inspirational and Prayer Leader) and Newcomers.Eileen was born to Lillian Marie and Raymond Arthur Nolan July 7,1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Eileen is survived by son Rodney Arthur (Marty), San Marcos, daughter Claudia Goodwin (Mike), Oceanside, six grandchildren, Jon Michael Miller, Julieann Miller Ungar, Jill Marie Miller Crayton, John Francis Sampson, James Hilmon Sampson and Molly Magee, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.Mother was preceded in death by husband Claude, daughter Arebee Ann, precious grandson Michael, sister Mary Lou Fuentes, mother Lillian Marie Nolan, and father Raymond Arthur Nolan.Rest in Peace Mother, you were fun, you will be missed, "Buy Bonds."Viewing will be July 15, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at Oceanside Mortuary, 602 South Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA. Mass will be July 16, 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 609 Pier View Way, Oceanside, followed by interment in the Mausoleum at Eternal Hills Cemetery, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside. A Celebration of Life reception will follow from 1:30 -3:00 p.m., at 535 Brooks Street, Oceanside, where Mom lived for 70 years.
