Stephen "Steve" Charles Collins passed suddenly at home in Ottawa, Kansas, on July 10, 2021. Steve was born March 22, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Herman and Mary (Dunlap) Collins. He attended duPont Manual High School, in Louisville. After attending college in Kentucky, Steve joined the U.S. Navy. He spent eight years serving as a submarine torpedoman, based in ports at Charleston, South Carolina, and Bremerton, Washington.
Steve's wife of 38 years is Heather (McMorris) Collins. They were married in 1983, while based in Charleston. In 1985, Steve and Heather moved across country to the naval base at Bremerton, WA. After leaving the Navy, they relocated to Heather's home state of Kansas.
Steve worked 18 years as a Pressman at Gill Studios, in Lenexa, KS. Most recently, he worked at Walmart, in Ottawa. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed reading, playing video games, and killing monsters.
He was preceded in death by parents Herman and Mary. He is survived by his wife, Heather, of Ottawa; sisters, Geneva and Kay; brothers, Herman and Bill; and mother-in-law, Peg Turney.
Cremains interred in the columbarium at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
