Mrs. Jacqueline Jean Hughes of Jasper, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the age of 93. Jean was born on August 2, 1925 to Albert and Thelma Bragg in Bonham, Texas.

Jean married the love of her life, James Hughes, on January 31, 1947 in Dallas, Texas; they were wed for 71 years. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She loved to play cards and dominoes; especially playing chicken foot with a group of her friends. Jean was a member of the home extension club and held many offices.

Preceding Jean in death is her husband, James Harold Hughes; a grandson, Todd Hughes; a sister, Marie Ward; a brother Bill Bragg and her parents, Albert and Thelma Bragg.

Jean is survived by her sons, Stanley Hughes, and Mark Hughes, and wife Linda, all of Jasper; grandchildren, Chad Hughes, and wife, Heather, of Nederland, Andy Hughes, and wife, Michelle, of Pasadena, Leslie Schwem, and husband, Jake, of Pearland; great grandchildren, Taylor Geraci, and husband, James, of League City, Emily Hughes, of Austin, Lacey Hughes, and Rocky Hughes, of Nederland; great-granddaughter, Juliet Hughes; a sister, Alice Reagan, of Dallas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Graveside services were held September 4, 2018, at West Oaks Cemetery in Jasper, under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper.
