And a resident of Franklinton passed away Saturday night June 5, 2021 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He was retired after a 40 year career with Dairyman, Inc, serving in many capacities through the years, most recently as an office manager. John was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton and a United States Army veteran during the latter years of the Vietnam War Era. He honorably served his community on the Town of Franklinton Board of Aldermen for 20 years. John worked alongside other councilmen and women on numerous committees through the years, including Finance, Personnel and several others. He proudly served as the Police Commissioner for 16 years. John was a former coach, board member and President of Franklinton's Little league Baseball. He also proudly served on the governing boards of Bowling Green School, the Varnado Store Museum and the Franklinton Association for Challenged Citizens. John was a devoted and loving caregiver to his son and wife for many years and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Daniel and Natalie Bankston Daniel, brothers Larry Gene Daniel, Jimmie Daniel, father in law and mother in law Coleman and Katherine Simmons.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday June 8th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Joey Miller, Rev. Tony Hicks and Dr. Cody Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
