He was born in Holland, Ky the son of James and Nancy Gorman Gibbs and had been a resident of Springfield for many years. His wife, Bertha preceded him in death May 22, 1958. Mr Gibbs was a retired coal miner and later was employed by the Pillsbury Mill Co, retiring 20 years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Lester of Springfield and Louis of Naperville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs Bess Pennington of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Services will be at 11am Thursday at Staab Funeral Home with Rev Thomas McDermand officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
