Mr. Robert Cecil Newman, 87, passed away at home on Thursday, July 8, 2021. A week away from his 88th birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgeanne S. Newman and his daughter, Lee Anne. Also preceding him were Evelyn Moore (sister); Elgin Little (brother) and parents Inez Campbell and Luther Newman.

He graduated from Lanier High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Mason of Oak Park Lodge #864. He retired in 1986 as an aircraft electrician from Maxwell Air Force Base.

He loved his grandchildren with all of his heart. He made sure that he made as many football, baseball, softball, and soccer games that his grandchildren played in their youth. The farm, raising cattle, hunting and gardening were his hobbies. He shot his last buck at 84.

He is survived by his children Paige Sullivan (Kevin) and Rob Newman (Laura). His grandchildren Lee Anne Roque (Ryan); Jordan Sullivan, Evan Sullivan, Webb Newman and Annalaura Newman.

Visitation will be Monday July 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Leak Memory Chapel followed by a graveside service at Noon in Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens. Reverend Ben McDavid of First United Methodist Church of Montgomery officiating.

Pall Bearers are Jordan Sullivan, Evan Sullivan, Webb Newman, Mike Moore, David Little and Ryan Roque.
