Steve Carol Collins, age 66, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born on January 16, 1952, in Robeson County to the late Ertle Frank Collins, Sr. and the late Jewel Simmons Collins. He was formerly employed in sales.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, David Batten.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Collins of the home; one step-daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and husband Matt of Clayton; two grandchildren: Sydney and JoJo; two brothers: Ertle Collins and wife Debbie of Rocky Mount and Reggie Collins and wife Sara of Lumberton; one sister, Kay Collins Batten of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; two nieces: Jessica Collins Hicks and Rhonda Oulman; one nephew, David Batten, Jr.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be greatly missed by many special friends.
A memorial service will be held on January 12, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Charles Brust officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Robeson County Humane Society, PO Box 3609, Lumberton, NC 28359; to Brunswick County Animal Services, PO Box 92, Supply, NC 28462; or to American Stroke Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
