Teresa Kay Briggs, 46, of McAlester, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 8.

The family will host a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Sunday, July 11, at 3:00 p.m. at the Krebs First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Taylor officiating. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Teresa Briggs Scholarship Fund established at The Bank, NA.

Teresa Briggs was born on August 10, 1974 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Dale and Linda (Upchurch) Cantrell. She attended Krebs School, then graduated from McAlester High School. She completed her education by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education at East Central University at Ada. After she and Davy Briggs were married on May 19th, 1993. They lived mostly in McAlester, except for a few years in a few different places because of work. During that time, Teresa taught high school English for 3 years at Turner, Oklahoma and also at McAlester. But McAlester was always home, and this is where she lived out her life. Teresa loved the MHS Buffaloes and volunteered in several organizations. She served as President of the Football Quarterback Booster club and was active in the Basketball Tip-In Booster Club and the Volleyball Booster Club, and also volunteered to help less fortunate children all year, especially around the holiday seasons.

Teresa is survived by her husband, Davy Briggs; children, Austin Clyde Briggs and wife Jen, Callie Cheyenne Briggs, and Charles Davis Briggs, III; grandchildren, Lucas Clyde Briggs, and one due later this year, Madison Kay Briggs; parents, Dale and Linda Cantrell; a sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Justin Mullins; parents-in-law, Ed and Sonja Crawley; a brother-in-law, Dr. Chad Crawley and wife Christie; sisters-in-law, Jennifer Neeley Briggs and Jessica Carson and husband Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.
