Born in Munich, Germany to Ernest and Mathilde Gottscho, Marie's family moved and settled in Washington D.C. where Marie graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Foreign Affairs. She worked for the U.S. Department of the State until she had children at which time she began a successful career in Real Estate.
Marie loved to knit and enjoyed meeting with the Knit Wits at The Gatesworth where she resided. She was an avid traveler who journeyed all over the world. She was especially fond of her dear grand-dog Daisy.
Marie was the beloved wife of Leo C.D. Groenweghe; loving mother of Karen Marie Taylor of St. Louis, MO and Bradley (Tracy) Taylor of Dunedin, FL; dear step-mother of Philip Groenweghe of St. Charles, MO, Marisa Groenweghe of Chicago, IL, and Eric (Karen) Groenweghe of Portland, OR; cherished grandmother of Andrew Taylor, and Elizabeth (Brett), Alexander, Kathrine, and Carmen Groenweghe; dear aunt of Christopher (Susie), Jonathan, and Nicholas Gottscho.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Herbert Bradley Taylor, M.D., and brother Oscar "Mike" Gottscho.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 1:00 PM, at The Church of St. Michael and St. George, 6345 Wydown Blvd., Clayton, MO. Private interment at St. Paul's Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington D.C.
