Major League Baseball Player, Broadcaster. He was a pitcher for sixteen seasons (1944, 1952 to 1966) with the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Athletics and Los Angeles Angels. On June 10, 1944 the left-hander made history becoming the youngest player in Major League Baseball, debuting just one month shy of his sixteenth birthday. He only appeared in one game that season, giving up 5 runs in less than one inning. It would not be until 1952 that Nuxhall would return to the big leagues. In 1955 he enjoyed his most successful season, posting 17 victories while being selected to the National League All Star Team. After retiring as a player, Nuxhall was a broadcaster with the Reds from 1967 to 2004. He was inducted into the Reds Team Hall of Fame in 1968. In 526 career games, Nuxhall won 135 and lost 117 with a 3.90 ERA. He died from cancer.
