Obituary:

Monica Crews Gordon, 70, passed away recently, with her husband of 40 years, Henri, by her side. Monica retired from the Hamilton County School system after 29 years.

She was a recipient of the "Outstanding Young Woman Of America" in 1981 by the Outstanding Young Women of America organization, and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Martha Crews of Huntsville, Al.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Henri, and his daughters, Cindy Gordon and Pamela Tarver, both of Atlanta; brothers-in-law, Bobby and Levi Gordon; sister-in-law, Teresa Gordon; cousins, William (Delores) Crews, Dr. H. Edward Booker, of Charlotte, NC, Melonee Miller, of Warner Robbins, Ga. and Beverly Neal Clarke, of Montezuma, Ga.; aunt, Mary Louise Waters, of Montezuma, Ga.; uncle, Otis Brock, Sr., of Savannah, Ga.; special friends, Cynthia Adams and Chris Winston, of Huntsville, Al.; former student and mentee, Jackie (Heather) Buttram; and a host of former co-workers and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 17 in the chapel at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423-622-9995.
