Janice worked for the Henderson County and Lexington City School Systems for over forty years and was a member of the Altruistic Club for over fifty years, as well as their second honorary member for life. Additionally, she served as service chair of the Henderson County chapter of the American Cancer Society for several years.
Janice enjoyed playing Canasta and Rook with friends and family. She loved the outdoor activities such as fishing, riding ATVs and jet skis, as well as the peace, and sense of community provided by their river retreat at Yarbro Landing in Decatur County.
Janice was born on October 17, 1945 in Lexington, TN to the late Joe C. and Maybelle (Wilkinson) Cawthon. She was preceded in death by her siblings Bobby Joe Cawthon and Sue Nell Overman. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry M. Wood, her sons Greg (& Peggy) Wood and Michael (& Shannon) Wood, four grandchildren: James Scott & Kimberly Wood, Kristin & Xander Wood, and three great grandchildren: Baye Wood, Jackson Wood, & Miles Wood, her niece Lisa Scott, great-niece Carletta Scott, and nephew Tony Cawthon.
Graveside services will be held at Henderson County Memorial Garden in Lexington on Saturday July 10, 2021 at 2:00PM.
